A moped driver was ejected and seriously injured Monday afternoon when he was hit from behind in Cobb County, according to police.

Bobby L. Miller, 62, was traveling east on Austell Road on a 2013 VIP moped when he was struck by a 2017 Chevrolet Sonic shortly before 2 p.m., Cobb police Officer Sydney Melton said. Miller was slowing down to enter the left turn lane when he was hit, throwing him off the moped, Melton said.

Miller was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.

The driver of the Sonic, 41-year-old Marlon Pollock, was not injured in the crash, which remains under investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Cobb police at 770-499-3987.
