A man was killed and another was injured early Thursday in an encounter with a gunman at the gate of a Buckhead apartment complex, Channel 2 Action News reported.
Atlanta police told the news station that investigators do not know what motivated the deadly shooting at the Allure at Brookwood apartments on Peachtree Valley Road. They think they have ruled out robbery as a possibility.
“The victims were exiting the gate of the gated apartment complex, and the suspect was entering the gate,” Atlanta police Lt. Andrea Webster told Channel 2. “But we don’t know exactly what led to the shooting at this point.”
Several people were coming and going in the area after a night of Halloween festivities, the news station reported.
According to police, one victim was killed after being shot multiple times. The other was shot in the arm while trying to run away.
The man killed was identified as Adalberto Narvaez-Pozos, 38, of Atlanta, according to the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office.
The other man who was shot was identified as Tomas Garcia Carrillo by Atlanta police.
The shooter took off running, Channel 2 reported. Investigators are hopeful cameras in the area will give them a better idea of what happened.
