Officials ID driver killed in Forsyth County wreck

A man was killed Tuesday afternoon in a two-vehicle wreck in Forsyth County, authorities said.

Forsyth County authorities have identified a driver killed in a car wreck in the southwest part of the county Tuesday.
Officials said Franklin Hawkins, 58, was killed when his Honda Civic collided with a Ford F-150. The wreck occurred on Francis Road, not far from Ga. 9, about 12:30 p.m., Forsyth County sheriff’s spokesman Cpl. Doug Rainwater said.

Hawkins’ Honda was traveling east on Francis Road when it crossed into the westbound lane and struck the F-150 driven by Jeffrey Lamkin, 50, Rainwater said.
Hawkins was declared dead at the scene, Rainwater said. Lamkin was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The wreck remains under investigation.
