The Georgia Department of Corrections is investigating an inmate’s death after officials say he sustained serious injuries during a fight with another inmate.
Humberto Hernandez, 41, died while en route to the hospital after a fight Wednesday morning at the Telfair State Prison in Helena, officials said.
Hernandez’s body was taken to a state crime lab for an autopsy.
Hernandez was in prison on a murder charge. He was serving a life sentence with the possibility of parole.
No other details were released.
