A fatal car accident has shut down all Ga. 400 lanes in both directions in Lumpkin County Wednesday night, authorities confirmed.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the incident, which took place near Whelchel Road, Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Alan Roach told AJC.com. The number of fatalities or people involved was not provided.

No timeline has been provided for when this stretch of Ga. 400 will reopen.
