The driver of a pickup truck accused of killing a motorcyclist in DeKalb County on Sunday before fleeing the scene is now behind bars, police said.

El Amin Muhammad, 63, of Ellenwood, was arrested Tuesday afternoon on multiple charges, including vehicular homicide, felony hit-and-run, failure to yield and driving without a license, DeKalb police spokeswoman Michaela Vincent said.

Muhammad is accused of pulling out in front of a motorcycle driven by 29-year-old Alvin Robinson as he left a gas station on Bouldercrest Road just before 6 p.m. Sunday, authorities said.

Robinson was heading north on Bouldercrest Road toward I-285 when he slammed into the side of Muhammad’s red Ford F-150 and was ejected, police said. He later died at a hospital.

Muhammad left the scene, but police were able to identify him through surveillance footage and eyewitness accounts, Vincent said. He is being held without bond at the DeKalb jail.
