High school coach resigns after sexual assault allegations involving student

A high school basketball coach has resigned amid allegations he sexually assaulted a student, Hall County School District said Monday evening.

Webster Demetrius Daniel, 42, was arrested last week after authorities said he had “unwanted sexual contact” with a student, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported. He faces felony sexual assault against a student and misdemeanor sexual battery charges.

Daniel coached the Chestatee High School girls’ basketball team before his arrest.

Officials said Daniel submitted his letter of resignation after he was suspended by the Hall County School district.

He is out of jail on bond.
