A homeowner is injured after he was shot three times trying to stop a man breaking into his truck outside his Henry County home.
Investigators said the homeowner heard a commotion, walked outside his Combs Street home and confronted the man standing in his driveway, according to Channel 2 Action News.
The man’s wife, who was home at the time, told the news station she had to duck bullets flying through the walls.
The victims, in fear for their safety, asked not to be identified.
Family friend Otis Hammock told Channel 2 he was in the area at the time and rushed to the house with a gun when he heard the gunfire.
“The guy just turned around with a pistol and just started shooting,” Hammock said.
The homeowner was shot once in the arm and once in each leg. “It could’ve been a lot worse,” Hammock said.
He has been released from the hospital, but he needs a wheelchair to get around.
“There were numerous other shots that were shot in his direction, so he was very lucky,” Locust Grove Police Chief Jesse Patton told Channel 2.
Police said they are looking for two suspects and possibly a gray sedan involved in the incident.
