A Hall County man faces several charges, including rape and child molestation, after he was accused of sexually assaulting at least two girls in the past seven years, authorities said.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office obtained arrest warrants this week for Matthew James Felmey, 30, of Lula, according to a news release. He faces counts of rape, aggravated sodomy, child molestation and aggravated sexual battery.

Between January and September 2013, Felmey is accused of sexually assaulting a young girl in a home off Smallwood Road.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office began investigating Felmey on April 9, 2020 after investigators were contacted by the county’s Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS), the release said.

Cleveland police were also brought into the investigation after the sheriff’s office realized the DFCS tip took place in its jurisdiction. Information on the White County incident was not provided.

While the investigation was active, Felmey is accused of striking again in Hall County.

On May 3 and 4, he raped and sodomized another young girl at his home in the 6400 block of Main Street, the release said. He knew both of his victims, authorities said.

Deputies arrested Felmey and transferred him to the White County jail, where he remains without bond. During his arrest, deputies seized his cellphone, finding evidence of the two sexual assaults in Hall County, the release said.

That information led to the new warrants against Felmey in Hall County.

The investigation continues, and anyone with information is asked to contact the Hall County Sheriff’s Office at 770-533-7690.
