An 8-month-old girl is recovering after police said her parents starved her and left her in a closet while they were out to dinner in Gwinnett County.
Jazmine Hinson, 21, and her boyfriend, Marvin Adkinson, were charged after it was discovered that the infant had broken bones, bruises, ligature marks on her neck and had been scalded with hot water, Channel 2 Action News reported.

The infant is now safe and in the care of Adkinson’s mother, Rhonda Bennett, Channel 2 reported. She said she was alarmed when she first met her granddaughter about a month ago.
“I started looking at her body, and there was just all types of wounds,” Bennett said.
She’s the person who called police, leading to the two being arrested about three weeks ago. Hinson, who faces a first-degree child cruelty charge, was denied bond in court Wednesday, the news station reported.
Adkinson, who faces charges of first-degree child cruelty and aggravated assault, waived his preliminary hearing. He’s booked into the jail under the alias Sean Bennett, the sheriff’s office told AJC.com.
“(Hinson) did, in fact, admit to hitting the child several times ... and leaving the baby in a closet while she and her co-defendant would go out to eat,” prosecutor Samantha Route said in court.
Bennett said she believes her son wasn’t responsible for the injuries and mostly blames Hinson, but she said he had to know about the abuse. She’s now trying to get full custody of her granddaughter.
