Authorities are searching for a man who pulled a gun on a couple, shot the boyfriend and carjacked a DeKalb County Watershed Management van.

The couple were walking Wednesday in the 3300 block of Beech Drive when they encountered the shooter, DeKalb police told Channel 2 Action News. Described as 6 feet tall and heavy set, the man had a green bookbag and dark T-shirt.

After he pulled the gun on the couple, the girlfriend retrieved her own firearm, according to the news station.

The gunman shot the woman’s boyfriend in the leg, left the scene and took off in the county van. The boyfriend’s injuries were not serious, police said.

The white Ford was later found in a neighborhood in Decatur, officials said.

The shooter is still on the run.

Police said he is armed and dangerous, and urged anyone with information about his whereabouts to call 911.
