Two men received prison terms for their roles in a home invasion at student apartments near the University of Georgia campus.

Anthony Jocques Rucker, 21, received a sentence of 10 years with another 10 years on probation, the Athens Banner-Herald reported. Aaron Malik Sanders, 19, received five years in prison and five more on probation, according to court records.

Both sentences were the result of plea agreements, according to the report.

The May 31, 2017, incident involved a 23-year-old UGA employee who lived at the Polo Club apartments.

He told police he had been watching a pickup basketball game at his complex and began talking with the players about a basketball video game he had, according to the report. He invited them into his residence to try it.

Once inside, one suspect pulled a handgun on the victim and the other produced what was described as a semiautomatic rifle, according to police. A roommate came into the upstairs hallway and wrestled a gun away from one of the suspects, police said. The gun went off.

Neighbors who heard the shot saw two people run to a silver four-door sedan driven by a third person, police said.

That night, an officer came across Sanders, who police said closely resembled one of the  suspects. He was arrested, and the investigation also led to Rucker, who was later arrested.
