A man’s $20 bet on the Atlanta Falcons to win last Sunday apparently led to him being stabbed while watching the team’s playoff game on television, the Athens Banner-Herald reported.

The 54-year-old Walton County man traveled to Athens to watch the NFC Championship game against Green Bay at an apartment complex, the newspaper reported.

When the Falcons made a great play, the man with whom the victim had made the bet became upset, according to the report. The suspect and the victim began to argue, and the suspect pulled out a folding knife.

“He then opened the knife and hit (the victim) with it, causing the victim to fall onto the ground,” according to police.

Someone drove the victim to a local hospital, according to the report. Police who met the victim there said he had a stab wound on the side of his head and a small puncture wound between his eyes.

The suspect ran from the apartment after the assault, according to the report. No arrests had been made as of Thursday morning.
