GBI arrests 2 on child molestation charges

After an investigation, the GBI has arrested two people in Rabun County on child molestation charges.
Cody Whitmire, 22, of Tiger, was charged with six counts of child molestation, one count of exploitation of a child and one count of statutory rape, agent Kim Williams said in a statement. Tamtha Watts was also arrested on one count of child molestation.

On Oct. 15, the GBI began an investigation into someone in Rabun County who was thought to have been in possession of graphic images and committing child molestation, Williams said. Agents eventually were able to show the crimes were being committed.
The investigation is ongoing.
