The alleged suspect, identified as 42-year-old Rigoberto Catalan, attempted to force the clerk into a storage area, but she fought back, Channel 2 reported. Catalan then walked the clerk at knifepoint to the cash register, where he demanded money,  the news station said.

Deputies say the clerk pushed a silent alarm, but the man got away before they arrived.

Catalan is being held without bond on armed robbery and aggravated assault charges.
