A 13-year-old boy who allegedly shot his mother in the neck Saturday night inside their home near College Park has been charged with aggravated assault, Fulton County police Det. Melissa Parker said.

The juvenile, who has not yet been identified, said he found a firearm in a park and thought it was a toy, Parker said. He was transported to the Metro Regional Youth Detention Center.

His mother, who also was not identified, was transported to a hospital, but there was no immediate report of her condition.

The home on Hilltop Way is the same one where local business owner Hardy Touray was shot and killed during a September 2014 robbery. Channel 2 Action News reported that the woman who was shot is Touray's sister.
