A south Fulton County foster dad is behind bars after authorities said he raped and molested four children in his care over several years.

Johnny Lee Summers, 55, was taken into custody Wednesday in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, the GBI said.

According to investigators, Summers sexually abused four siblings that he and his wife fostered. The abuse lasted about four years and the children were between the ages of 8 and 16, authorities said.

The GBI’s investigation into Summers began in December at the request of the Chattahoochee Hills Police Department after authorities learned of the abuse allegations.

“At the time of the allegations, Summers and his wife were fostering four siblings in their home,” GBI spokeswoman Nelly Miles said. “The investigation has revealed that Summers molested and/or abused all four children in his care.”

Summers faces 14 charges in connection with the incident, including two counts of rape, two counts of aggravated child molestation, three counts of child molestation, two counts of cruelty to children, one count of enticing a child for indecent purposes, two counts of battery-family violence and two counts of simple assault. While most of the charges are felonies, the last two are misdemeanors. The GBI said additional charges are expected.

He remains held at the Horry County jail in South Carolina as he awaits extradition to Georgia, jail records show.
