Former Carroll County coach-teacher charged with sexual assault

Dec 1, 2015A former Carroll County coach and teacher has been jailed on sexual assault charges.
Joseph Amos Young turned himself in to the Carroll County jail on Nov. 24 after a grand jury indicted him on two counts of sexual assault by a teacher, coach or other administrator, Carroll County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Jeff Richards said Tuesday.
Young was a former Bowdon High School softball coach and middle school resource teacher.
The sheriff’s office said it was was asked in August to investigate allegations of inappropriate contact between a coach and one or more of his students, Richards said.
The results of the investigation were presented to the grand jury on Nov. 18.
Young has been released on a $50,000 special conditions bond.
