According to a PBSO Facebook post, officers made announcements in the area and canvassed the park. They also tried a reverse 911 call, but got no results. Officers contacted Florida Department of Children and Families, which took possession of the child.

Police said the girl’s parents, Jolanda Larose Alexandre, 38, and Makenson Alexandre, 34, reported their daughter missing at 11:40 a.m. and detectives went to their home to interview them.

“They both stated they did not realize they left their child at the park Friday, March 22, 2019, around 7:00pm and she had been missing for more than fourteen hours,” the department said in the post.

WPTV reported that DCF removed seven other children from the couple's home. Both parents were charged with child neglect, authorities said.
