A father told Newnan police that a man grabbed his daughter’s coat and tried to drag her to a car last week.

When he saw his daughter talking to the stranger in front of the family home, he ran out and hit the suspect in the face several times before freeing his daughter.

The suspect allegedly attempted the child abduction about 1:30 p.m. Nov. 22 in front of their Coweta County home, according to a news release from Newnan police.

The suspect is described as 5 feet, 9 inches tall with a skinny build and between 25 and 27 years old.

He drove off in a four-door Honda with “older paint” and a white or silver pinstripe along the side from the front to the back. A rear right tire might be a “doughnut” or missing a hubcap.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Newnan Police Department. The case detective is Sgt. Jim Beneke at (770) 254-2355, ext. 117
