Three Rockmart residents are facing felony murder charges in connection with the shooting death of a 31-year-old motorcyclist from Paulding County, deputies said.

James Austin Nicholson, 22, Carlos Fredrico Hightower, 26, and Magan Darleen Carroll, 24, were being held without bond at the Paulding County Detention Center on Monday, sheriff’s Sgt. Ashley Henson said in a news release.

The trio is accused of targeting Chadwick Morgan over an ongoing property dispute, Henson said.

Morgan was riding a motorcycle Friday when he was shot and left in a ditch near 1680 Holly Springs Road in Rockmart. Morgan’s body was found by deputies, who responded shortly after 4:15 a.m.

Henson said more charges may be filed against the accused.

Anyone with information should call sheriff’s officials at 770-443-3015.
