Duo charged in 2010 strangling death

Two people have been charged with murder for the 2010 strangling death of a 64-year-old man, Atlanta police said Tuesday.

Tamieka Gamble, 38, and Mark Ross, 26, were being held in the Fulton County jail Tuesday night without bond, booking records show. Both are accused of killing Edward Jowers inside his northwest Atlanta apartment in August 2010, according to police.

Jowers had been tortured and strangled, and investigators said at the time that he may have been dead for several days before his body was found in the apartment on Paschal Boulevard, a few blocks north of the Atlanta University Center.

Gamble was already in jail on unrelated charges when she was charged with Jowers' death on March 12, according to police. Later that day, investigators located and arrested Ross.

Details about a possible motive in the killing were not released.
