A resident of the Sierra Terrace apartments in Brookhaven said he remembers hearing “a lot of noises in the morning, around 3 in the morning” from the apartment below him.

On Tuesday, Jose Avile found out why, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration as well as police officers from Brookhaven and Atlanta raided the apartment, the news station reported.

They found 170 pounds of crystal methamphetamine, cocaine, weapons and cash, DEA spokesman Chuvalo Truesdell said.

It took hours for officers to get the boxes, barrels and suspected drug-making material out of the apartment.

Avila remembers hearing “noises like hammering. I don’t know, it was weird, there was a lot of people awake at that time.”

Two men were arrested, but their names weren’t released.

“You never imagine,” Avila said, “that happened downstairs, you know the apartment below you.”
