Driver sought after fleeing traffic stop in stolen car in Brookhaven

Brookhaven police are looking for a driver they say fled from a traffic stop in a stolen car.

The incident started about 1:45 a.m. Tuesday, according to Brookhaven police spokesman Sgt. David Snively. Officers were in the 3700 block of Buford Highway looking for a car that had been reported stolen, he said.

One of the officers spotted the car and tried to stop it. However, the driver sped away.

The driver made it to the 4700 block of Buford Highway in Chamblee but lost control of the vehicle, Snively said. The driver then abandoned the car and took off running, he said.

Police are still seeking information that leads to the driver. A description of the person was not available. An investigation is ongoing.
