St. Johns County deputies said a local doctor crashed his car Thursday night while allegedly huffing and driving for the third time this week.

The third crash happened near U.S. 1 and International Golf Parkway just hours after James S. Militello was released from jail for driving under the influence in another crash.

Deputies were working late Thursday night to get an arrest warrant for Militello. After Thursday night's crash, Militello was found outside his car.

Deputies said was it was a single car crash and the 61-year-old was huffing a can of electronics cleaner.

Investigators said he threw the can into the woods to hide it, but deputies quickly found it.

Deputies say Militello wasn't arrested because they didn't see him huffing, but he was ticketed since this wasn't a hit-and-run crash; the charge is for misdemeanor reckless driving.

On Wednesday, deputies said they saw Militello huffing in his car after allegedly hitting a power pole and taking off near State Road 207.

The podiatrist bonded out and his wife said he was on his way to rehab Thursday.

Officials say Militello first got on their radar Monday on U.S. 1 when they found him acting dazed in his car and driving erratically.

Reports say deputies found several empty cans of electronics cleaner in his vehicle then too.

But like Thursday's incident, he wasn't arrested since deputies didn't see him huffing.

Officials let a co-worker pick him up and take him home. However Militello does face misdemeanor drug charges for that incident as well.
