A Troup County deputy was fired after being arrested Monday on stalking and assault charges, the sheriff’s office confirmed Wednesday.

Deputy Lakee Snell allegedly threatened his ex-girlfriend, Greta Norton, with whom he has an 8-year-old daughter, according to a sheriff’s report.

In that report, officers wrote that Snell told Norton he would “rather put a bullet between your eyes, me kill myself and have (daughter’s name) raised by her grandparents than for us to be apart.”

The following day, Sunday, Snell showed up again at Norton’s LaGrange house. He was allegedly waiting in the driveway when Norton returned home with the 8-year-old, according to the report.

Though Norton declined to press charges at the time, Snell’s supervisors got involved.

After the domestic violence incident report was taken, officers called the GBI to investigate, Lt. Jeff Duran told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

“We called them in because anytime an officer is suspected of criminal activity we want to be unbiased,” Duran said. “They found probable cause to make the arrest and upon that he was terminated.”
