A deputy who works at the Cobb County Detention Center has tested positive for the disease caused by the coronavirus.

The infected deputy “is doing well and is following the medical guideline of public health,” said Glenn Daniel, spokesman for the Cobb sheriff.

Daniel said no other employees or inmates have tested positive.

The virus has been steadily making its way through metro area detention centers. Positive tests have been recorded by staff and personnel at Fulton and DeKalb jails as well as the U.S Penitentiary in Atlanta.

Several questions were left unanswered by the Cobb sheriff’s office, including:

*When did the deputy test positive, and when will he be returning to work?;

* How many employees came into contact with the infected deputy, and were all told to self-quarantine?

Return for updates.
