DeKalb County police are investigating two separate shootings after two people were found dead within miles of each other Tuesday morning.

Officers were dispatched to the scenes of the shootings within 30 minutes of each other.

Police were first sent to the 4600 block of Hope Springs Road at 8:05 a.m. Tuesday, according to police spokesman Sgt. J.D. Spencer. When police arrived, they found the person dead on the side of the road with a gunshot wound to the back.

Officers were sent to a location less than five miles away soon after. Another person was reported hurt in the 3400 block of Orchard Circle at 8:25 a.m., Spencer said. There, they found a victim laying in the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds, Spencer said. The shooting victim was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Spencer said.

No suspects have been arrested in either case. Both investigations are ongoing.
