A DeKalb County man accused of shooting and killing a grandfather of eight was arrested Wednesday in Indianapolis, authorities said.

Michael Ladre Hill, 25, of Stone Mountain, faces felony murder and aggravated assault charges in the February homicide of 54-year-old Timothy Newhouse, the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

The grandfather was shot outside a convenience store near Memorial Drive and Stone Mountain Freeway after an argument, AJC.com previously reported. Newhouse was shot in the chest and died at the scene.

A woman who was nearby was hit in the foot during the shooting by a stray bullet. The suspect was caught on surveillance video inside the convenience store and running away after the shooting, police said.

Four of Newhouse’s daughters told Channel 2 Action News after the shooting that he moved to Georgia from Kansas to try to break into the Atlanta music scene.

The Marion County, Ind., Sheriff’s Office arrested Hill, and he remains in Indiana awaiting extradition to the DeKalb County Jail.
