Hall County deputies are investigating after two hunters discovered human skeletal remains in the woods near Flowery Branch on Thursday, authorities said.

The remains were found about 1:15 p.m. on a property near the intersection of Trudy Drive and Lights Ferry Road, Hall County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Derreck Booth said.

Authorities did not say if the remains belonged to a man or woman, or how long they had been there. It’s also unclear if foul play is suspected.

“Although detectives are in the early stages of the investigation, they have good leads as to the identity of the deceased,” Booth said.

The remains were transported to the GBI Crime Lab for examination.
