Two people were killed and at least five more were injured Saturday afternoon in a drive-by shooting in northeast Atlanta, police said.

Officers responded to a call on Mayson Avenue in the Edgewood neighborhood about 5:45 p.m. after receiving calls about shots being fired into a group of people, Atlanta police spokesman Officer Anthony Grant said.

“Some were transported to the hospital by ambulance, while others were transported by private vehicle,” he said. “We believe there could be several more victims.”

According to police, two of the victims died from their injuries and the remaining five are stable.

The two people killed were later identified as 17-year-old Semaj Jones and 25-year-old Christopher Weaver.

It’s unclear what led to the shooting, but police have released a photo of a black pickup truck that was used in the drive-by. Anyone with information about the truck or its occupants is asked to call Atlanta police.
