A man wanted on a statutory rape charge was driving a bus for a local daycare when deputies stopped him Thursday in Clayton County.

Demarcus Lavell Fleming was going through a Clayton sheriff's checkpoint when deputies stopped him and learned he was wanted in DeKalb County on the statutory rape charge, the sheriff's office said in a news release.

“At the time of arrest, there were no children aboard the bus,” the sheriff’s office said in the release.

Authorities have not released the name of the daycare facility where he worked.

Fleming was taken to Clayton County Jail, where he will remain until DeKalb deputies transport him.
