A Newnan teen is facing vehicular homicide and DUI charges after a crash that killed a passenger and injured two others, authorities said.

Charles T. Yates, 19, lost control of his car while negotiating a curve about 3 a.m. Sunday, the Georgia State Patrol said. The car crossed the center line of Vaughn Road, eventually hitting a tree and then a utility pole.

Elijah L. Holland, 17, of Sharpsburg, was killed, the GSP said.

Two other passengers, Austin L. Ledbetter, 17, of Sharpsburg, and Charles D. Leach, 16, of Sharpsburg, were injured, the GSP said. They were taken to Atlanta hospitals.

Yates also is charged with reckless driving, failure to maintain his lane and driving too fast for conditions, the GSP said.

Bond was set at $29,900 by a Coweta County Magistrate Court judge Thursday. Yates has been restricted to home confinement and must wear a GPS tracking device.

The investigation is ongoing, the GSP said.
