A man was stabbed to death at a northeast Atlanta motel, and police said his cousin did it.

The incident happened early Tuesday at the Cheshire Motor Inn in the 1800 block of Cheshire Bridge Road, Atlanta police Officer Donald Hannah said.

According to authorities, the cousins, in town from Virginia, got into an argument that turned violent, Channel 2 Action News reported. One said he stabbed the other in self-defense. The victim died after being taken to Grady Memorial Hospital with injuries to his stomach and chest area.

Authorities are questioning the cousin but have not charged him.

Their names have not been released.
