A couple in West Virginia was arrested after allegedly trying to sell their baby.

Jonathan Flint, 20, and Ashley Harmon, 25, were asking for between $500 and $1,000 for the 3-month-old baby, police say.

Neighbor Carolyn Redden told WSAZ that the couple brought the baby, who appeared to be sick, to her house on May 28. When she refused to buy the baby, they asked her to babysit the infant while they went to a convenience store. They did not return until the next day.

Redden called 911 and the child was placed in protective services. Redden said the baby was crying and shaking, and an EMS worker told her the child may be experiencing drug withdrawal.

The parents were arrested and charged with felonies. Their bond is set at $100,000 each.

WSAZ tracked down the baby’s biological father, who said he didn’t know anything about the plan to sell the baby.
