A Hall County woman told authorities some of her and her roommate’s jewelry was stolen. But deputies said she lied, stole her roommate’s jewelry and sold it for a fraction of what it was worth.

Cynthia Leigh Fuller, 58, of Gainesville, allegedly stole jewelry valued at more than $4,500 and unlawfully sold it to another person for $200, according to a Hall County Sheriff’s Office news release. The release said she told the buyer the jewelry was hers.

Deputies arrested Fuller on Tuesday and charged her with theft by conversion, which is a felony, theft by deception, false report of a crime and giving false statement to a law enforcement agency.

She remains in the Hall County Jail on a $14,000 bond.

The sheriff’s office is still investigating the incident.
