Hours after being served a restraining order instructing her not to have contact with her ex-boyfriend, a woman allegedly visited him in Forsyth County anyway.

Then she shot him while he slept, authorities said.

Melanie Greene, 46, is accused of shooting the 56-year-old man in the arm while he was in his home off Gran Forest Drive, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

About 11:45 p.m. Monday, the sheriff’s office received a 911 call about someone being shot. When deputies arrived at the home, the man was standing at the end of his driveway with a towel wrapped around his arm.

Earlier Monday, Greene was served a temporary protective order that barred her from returning to his residence, the release said.

Greene allegedly fired a handgun multiple times through his glass French bedroom doors, hitting the sleeping man once in his bicep. She’s then accused of entering the home through the broken doors and chasing the man out of the house.

The ex-boyfriend hid at a neighbor’s home until deputies arrived, the release said.

Greene ran to her car, drove herself to the Forsyth County Detention Center and turned herself in, the release said. She was charged with aggravated assault, burglary, aggravated stalking and violation of a temporary protective order.

Greene remains in jail without bond.
