East Point police are searching for a man they say sexually assaulted a woman after luring her from a MARTA station.

The victim told police the suspect offered her help at the East Point MARTA station Feb. 23, Channel 2 Action News reported.

“She got lost and asked for directions and he agreed to walk with her,” East Point Det. Ebony Johnson told the news station.

The man allegedly took her to a wooded area off Washington Avenue, where he raped and beat her, the news station reported. The woman ran to a nearby mobile home park, where someone called 911.

Police say the suspect is in his late 20s, is about 5-foot-9, has a slim-to-medium build and has cornrows and a goatee.
