A North Georgia man was arrested Saturday after allegedly using a social media app to try to meet and attempt to molest a child, authorities said.

Josh Shane Walls, 45, of Resaca, faces three felonies in Floyd County, jail records show. He “made contact with someone he thought was a child” using the app and asked that person to meet for sex, the sheriff’s office said. The name of the app was not provided.

When attempting to coerce the person, he graphically described various sexual acts, the sheriff’s office said. He also allegedly asked for a nude picture of the child.

He traveled to an agreed meeting place, where he planned to molest the child, the sheriff’s office said. That led to his arrest.

He faces counts of criminal attempt to commit child molestation, electronic enticement of a child and obscene internet contact with a child, jail records show. As of Monday night, he remained in the county’s jail.
