Two women face felony theft charges after allegedly taking their kids shoplifting and using a stroller to steal more than $1,000 worth of items, authorities said.

Devon Favors and Raleah Leland are accused of taking three children, including a 2-year-old, to the Macy’s at North Point Mall last week, Alpharetta police told Channel 2 Action News.

“The women were placing clothing and kitchen items in the stroller they were pushing around, and then came out and Macy’s bags were full with clothes,” Sgt. Howard Miller told Channel 2.

The two made some small purchases and left the store with the hidden items, he said. The duo was arrested at the mall, and they both face felony shoplifting charges.

One of the children was handed off to a relative, while the other was placed in Division of Family and Children Services custody since a family member couldn’t be reached, Miller said.

“Shoplifting is bad. A felony makes it worse,” he told the news station. “Now you’ve got children in the mix — it just becomes a bad situation all the way around.”

A judge postponed Favors and Leland’s preliminary bond hearing, so they remain in jail without bond, Channel 2 reported.
