A Lawrenceville man, who faces charges in multiple metro Atlanta counties and several states, now faces even more charges after being indicted in a Cobb County case.
Howboutit Hbi, 45, was indicted last week on four felony charges in connection with an incident where he’s accused of throwing away the cremated remains of a woman’s father and husband, according to court records.
The man, who also uses the alias Paul Martin Thornton, has been arrested multiple times in metro Atlanta since that incident, including last month in Forsyth County after a high-speed chase, AJC.com previously reported.

His latest charges stem from a July 22, 2019, incident that took place at the victim’s home off Wildwood Road, according to Marietta police arrest warrants.
The woman texted Hbi to tell him to stay away from her home. He responded with a threat, saying “I’m going to beat you the (expletive) up (expletive),” the warrants said.
In several text messages, Hbi admitted to pouring out the ashes of the victim’s family members in a garbage can behind the woman’s house overnight, the warrants allege. In addition, he’s accused of pouring bleach on some of the woman’s clothes “because he was angry with the victim.”
He was indicted on four charges last Thursday, which include two counts of abandonment of a dead body, one count of second-degree criminal damage to property and terroristic threats, court records show.
His legal troubles span to Forsyth and Gwinnett counties as well.
On Dec. 6, Hbi did not stop for a Forsyth County deputy while driving on Atlanta Highway, according to the sheriff’s office in that county. The deputy tried to pull him over after learning he was wanted in multiple jurisdictions out of several states.
Hbi led the deputy on a high-speed chase onto Ga. 400 and into Fulton County, where the deputy called off the pursuit near Mansell Road, the sheriff’s office said.
However, he was later arrested and booked into the Forsyth County Jail to face three charges, including fleeing police, which is a felony.
Under the Thornton alias, he’s been arrested twice in Gwinnett since July 2019 — most recently last Friday on a charge of driving without a valid license, according to jail records.

He was released from jail two days later on a $705 bond. At some point this week, Hbi was rearrested in Forsyth County, where he is being held for authorities in Bartow and Cobb counties.
He is facing a probation violation out of Bartow related to an original charge of drug possession and a warrant out of Illinois for traffic offenses, according to Forsyth authorities.
