Donald Heningburg, 25, of Duluth, faces aggravated assault, armed robbery and obstruction charges in connection with the incident, Channel 2 reported.

Salim Raza, the clerk at the store on Beaver Run Road, told the news station Heningburg picked up the beer, didn’t pay for it and waved the hammer at him to threaten him on Sept. 26.

“If I (went) outside, he would have hit me,” Raza said. “But I didn’t (go) outside because he showed me (his) hammer.”

Raza then called Norcross police, and the officer spotted Heningburg walking down the street when he arrived, Channel 2 reported. The beer was in one hand, and the hammer was in his pocket.

Snapchat video obtained by the news station allegedly shows Heningburg refuse to show his hands, which prompted the officer to attempt to use his Taser, but it malfunctioned.

The Norcross officer said Heningburg kept asking, “Do you really want to shoot me?” The officer said, “No, but you need to let me see your hands and stop messing around with them,” Channel 2 reported.

The video then allegedly shows the two struggling on the ground before the officer puts Heningburg in handcuffs.

He remains in the Gwinnett County Jail without bond, according to jail records.
