A Cobb County woman’s luck was bad enough when her car broke down about a mile from her home on Easter weekend.

But it kept getting worse when someone she thought would provide help actually stole her rings, which are worth up to $30,000, Channel 2 Action News reported.

“I see her all the time, too, and it’s just sad,” neighbor Ebony Murray said of the victim, who was not identified.

Cobb police said the man who stopped to help popped open the woman’s hood and looked at her car.

He asked how much money she had.

When the woman, who had recently moved to the Marietta area from Seattle, told the man she didn’t have any cash, officers said he pulled out his gun and took her rings.

The man had a Southern accent and gold teeth, according to a police report.

Murray said the incident should be a warning to all women, and people in the neighborhood.

“Try to protect yourself as best as you can,” she said, “but just don’t try to fight them because they can be dangerous, too. So just give it to them and go.”
