A Morrow man wanted for a year in his pregnant girlfriend’s beating was arrested Monday morning by Clayton County authorities.

Qwayvon Smith, 23, was captured at the Oxford Town Homes in Morrow in the alleged February 2016 attack against the victim, Clayton County officials said.

The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office said Smith allegedly forced himself inside his pregnant girlfriend’s home and hit her with a two-by-four board.

He then “held her down and repeatedly struck her in the face with a closed fist,” authorities said. Police said the beating took place in front of the woman’s child.

Smith remained in the Clayton County jail on a $2,400 bond aggravated assault, battery, cruelty to children, burglary, criminal damage and probation violation charges.
