A man turned himself in to authorities Wednesday, two weeks after Newnan police say he attacked the mother of his child twice and kidnapped her.
Authorities say Jaterrio Brooks, 24, also attempted to kidnap the child during the May 12 attack, which was captured on cellphone video by a witness.
Brooks remained in the Coweta County jail Friday without bond on charges of aggravated assault with hands, feet and fists, kidnapping and second-degree criminal damage to property, according to jail records.
Newnan police arrived about 1:30 p.m. at the 1000 block of Bullsboro Drive, where a man and a woman were fighting, with one of them having a gun, according to the police report.

Police found Shantel Archie’s black Dodge Charger on the median between the turning lane into the Newnan Pavilion Shopping Center. Her driver’s-side window was shattered. Archie said she drove onto the median to get away from Brooks.
Covered in glass and crying hysterically, Archie told police Brooks, who she identified as “Prime,” kidnapped her friend after attempting to abduct his child. Police determined the friend was the child’s mother.
The friend’s name was redacted from the report, obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, but police identified the victim and her connection to Brooks during a Facetime call with her mother who was attempting to call her daughter at the time.
Archie also gave police Brooks’ tag number, which came back to a black 2012 Cadillac CTS registered in his name.
Police attempted to search for the kidnapping victim using the emergency locator on her phone, but it was left inside Archie’s car.
It’s not clear what led Brooks to the location, but police said cellphone video shows he parked his Cadillac in front of Archie’s Dodge Charger, blocking it.

Brooks is then seen pulling on the left rear window attempting to enter it. At one point, police say Brooks held the victim by the throat and then placed her in a “rear chokehold and (lifting) her off the ground,” according to the police report.
The video then shows Brooks arguing with a different woman in a red Toyota Camry who was behind the incident, police said.
Brooks allegedly walked back to the Charger and pulled on the left rear window, where the child was seated. Police say Brooks pulled on it so hard that he shook the car and damaged the door.
Brooks didn’t take the child, but police say he attacked the victim again as she was walking back to the Charger. He allegedly choked the victim, dragged her to his car, threw her inside and drove off, according to the report.
The victim was found safe later that day.
Brooks surrendered to Meriwether County authorities Wednesday before being transported to the Coweta County jail.
