Early Saturday morning, six women returned to a Lawrenceville home after a night of clubbing.
One would wind up dead, another charged with her murder.
Lawrenceville police Capt. Greg Vaughn said officers responded to the 300 block of Hurricane Shoals Road around 4 a.m. Saturday, finding 28-year-old Chelsea Rebecca Jones “unconscious and bleeding” from a stab wound to her upper leg. She later died at Gwinnett Medical Center.
“The investigation into the incident revealed six young females had been out clubbing and were returning home,” Vaughn said in an emailed statement. “An argument ensued, leading to one of the females … stabbing Jones in the leg with a knife.”
The alleged attacker was identified as 27-year-old Jennifer Anita Smith. She was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and felony murder, and is being held at the Gwinnett County jail without bond, Vaughn said.
What may have led to the argument was unclear.
