A man in northwest Georgia was arrested and accused of making a pipe bomb device and threatening to use it during a domestic incident, authorities said.

Edward Wayne Williams, 39, of Plainville, allegedly made the explosive device using Pyrodex, a type of gunpowder, at his home on Rome Road in the Scottsville community, the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

On Saturday, deputies were called to his home after the victim said Williams assaulted her and threatened her with the pipe bomb, the release said.

Once the Pyrodex was found in his car, the Floyd County bomb squad was called in and found the device in the home, the release said.

He faces three counts of aggravated assault, two counts of terroristic threats, one count of false imprisonment, one count of manufacturing and possessing a destructive device and three counts of third-degree child cruelty, according to Gordon County Jail records.

He remains in jail without bond, records show.

An investigation is ongoing.
