A Carrollton man is facing charges after he admitted to having child pornography, the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement Monday.

Stephen Michael Peel, 21, was arrested and charged with sexual exploitation of a child in connection with the investigation.

Carroll investigators received information about a case involving “graphic images of child pornography” on Dec. 16, the sheriff’s office said.

Three days later, an investigator went to a home on Quail Hollow Drive to execute a search warrant after detectives traced the pornographic images to that location.

The investigator planned to search all of the electronics in the house for pornographic images. During the search, the investigator interviewed Peel, who confessed to having the images.

The electronics were seized “for further forensic investigation and to determine where the images may have originated from and who (Peel) may have sent them to.”

Peel was booked into the Carroll County jail. He was released Saturday on a $15,000 bond.
