An Atlanta man is accused of kicking down the door to a Forest Park motel room, punching a pregnant woman in the face and breaking her jaw in front of her six young children, authorities said.

Kenneth Jerard Reed, 32, was arrested in East Point last Wednesday on three charges stemming from the September attack, the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. He faces counts of criminal trespass, aggravated battery and child cruelty.

On Sept. 28 about 8:15 a.m., officers responded to the Economy Hotel off Falcon Drive after receiving a call about a domestic incident, according to a Forest Park police incident report obtained by AJC.com. The victim, a 27-year-old woman, was found bleeding from her mouth and appeared “dazed.”

She told officers that her boyfriend, Reed, kicked down her door, punched her in the face and then ran away, the report said. She fell to the ground as a result of the punch, which the sheriff’s office said resulted in a broken jaw.

The victim said she was 16 weeks pregnant with Reed’s child, the report said.

Six of her children, ages 1 through 11, witnessed the alleged attack. One of the children told officers that Reed “kicked in the door, hit her mother in the face, and made her mother cry,” the report said.

The woman was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for her injuries, while the Division of Family and Children Services was contacted to take the children into protective custody. The kids were later handed over to the victim’s mother and other family members.

Last week, Reed was arrested at CSL Plasma off Cleveland Avenue in East Point, the sheriff’s office said. Deputies found him “standing in line” inside the blood donation center.
