When Cherokee County deputies began to chase a vehicle that didn’t pull over for a traffic stop, they spotted a baggie of methamphetamine being thrown out the window.

While the bag didn’t hold much of the drug, the sheriff’s office said it led deputies and agents to a home with much more meth and other illegal narcotics.

Deputies attempted to pull the vehicle over last Monday on Bells Ferry Road for a traffic violation, but the driver refused, the sheriff’s office said in a news release. The baggie was allegedly thrown out the window and onto Kellogg Creek Road by Richard Paul Lindsey, who was the driver.

Deputies eventually were able to stop Lindsey’s vehicle, and he was taken into custody, the release said. However, deputies were then able to obtain a search warrant for Lindsey’s home off Victoria Road, which led to more drugs being discovered.

Agents from the Cherokee Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad found more than 10 pounds of meth, nine pounds of marijuana, 21 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, 14 grams of hashish and two THC vape pens, the release said.

More than 10 pounds of methamphetamine and nine pounds of marijuana was recovered from the house, the sheriff's office said.
